KitchenAid Stand Mixer – NECK PIN/HINGE PIN CAME OUT – VERY EASY 5 MIN FIX! | Artisan Tilt Head

Hi friends – I was kneading sandwich bread dough in my Kitchen Aid Artisan Stand Mixer (KSM150PSWH) – and the hinge pin (also known as a neck pin), got so loose that it protruded out by 1 inch. I wasn’t able to press it back in with my fingers. Then I realize the way to fix it is so easy – it takes only 5 mins. Watch the video above to see how easy it is.

Step 1: Unplug the Stand Mixer and remove attachments.
Move the electrical cord out of the way by wrapping it around the neck.

Step 2: Place a working mat on the table
To protect your table and the stand mixer.

Step 3: Lift the stand mixer, and lay it down on the working mat, with the protruding hinge pin facing upward (towards the ceiling)

Step 4: Loosen this screw under the stand mixer.
Under the stand mixer, look for this one screw (see video). Using a 1/4 inch (0.6 cm) slotted screw driver, also known as a flat head screw driver, loosen the screw by turning it anti-clockwise.
// try not to unscrew the screw completely as it is a bit troublesome to put it back in.

Step 5: Lift the stand mixer back up, and unlock the tilt head.

Step 6: Push the neck pin/hinge pin back into its original position.
You may need to lift the tilt head in order to push the hinge pin in.
If you still experience difficulties, lock the tilt head and loosen the screw below further.

Step 7: Lock the tilt head.

Step 8: Lay the stand mixer back on its side on the working mat.
Tighten the screw below by turning it clock-wise.

DONE! Stand mixer is back in service.

Oh yes in case you ever need to know this hinge pin Part Number is WP16910. So if you ever loose it, you simply have to buy this part (fits most Kitchen Aid Consumer Tilt Head Mixers – double check for compatibility before you buy) – and you know how to put it in 🙂

Cheers,
Catherine
